The Wingate Prize is a literary award, and is given to the best book, fiction or non-fiction, to convey the idea of Jewishness to the general reader. The winner receives £4000.
The Prize was started in 1977, and is run in association with the Jewish Literary Foundation, the UK’s leading platform for the dissemination of Jewish literature and ideas across the UK and the world through events and cultural experiences. Previous winners include David Grossman, Anne Michaels, WG Sebald, Zadie Smith, and Nicole Krauss.
Submissions are now invited for the Wingate Foundation Literary Prize 2025-2026.
