Promotion of cross-cultural dialogue and understanding through the encouragement of the arts. The Foundation had previously supported Stages 1 and 2 of the Soviet Series, and granted a further £10,000 for Phase 3; the pre-production of the new works.

The National Film and Television School

One of the world’s leading film, television and new media schools. Renewal of scholarship for £10,800 in support of two existing Wingate scholars to assist them in their second year of the Composing course.

Soho Theatre

Producers of new work, nurturing new artists and developing new audiences. Renewal of support for the ‘Soho Six’ programme; an intensive programme for six writers in the early stages of their career running over the course of a year. Agreed £10,000 pa for three years.

Shakespeare’s Globe

Promoting, educating and stimulating public appreciation and understanding of dramatic art, principally in relation to William Shakespeare. Renewal of support for the Globe Education Assistants programme which provides a school-leaver with the experience of working in an arts/education organisation. Agreed £5,000 pa for three years.

Little Angel Theatre

One of only three puppet theatres in England dedicated to the celebration and development of puppetry and live animation. Support for Little Angel Studios, a new building dedicated to education, community and outreach work. Request for £20,000 in support of the first year of the building’s activity or ongoing support over the next 2-4 years. Agreed £5,000.

Arvon Foundation

Supporting the development of emerging writers through attendance at residential writing courses. Support for a grants scheme for disadvantaged writers to attend a course in writing for TV, film, theatre or radio. Agreed £5,000 pa for two years.

Donmar

Producing a rich variety of theatre from classics to new plays that feel relevant to the world today, engaging audiences of the future and inspiring young people through education work. Support for ‘Creative Development Fund’, a commissioning cycle that enables contemporary playwrights to have opportunities to develop their work. Agreed £15,000 as a contribution towards workshops, readings and research.

Lyric Hammersmith

Producing and presenting high quality contemporary theatre for audiences of all ages and developing the creative potential of young people and emerging artists. Support for ‘Writing, Directing and Designing for the Mid-Scale Stage’ which addresses the continued need for professional development in theatre artists and facilitates the transition between creating work for smaller studio spaces to larger mid-scale theatres. Request for £10,000 pa for three years. Agreed £5,000.

London Contemporary Dance School at The Place

World-class conservatoire offering vocational training through its undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes. Renewal of support for ‘Fund for Excellence’ which enables talented students in need of financial assistance to access and complete their training. Agreed £3,500 pa for three years.

Jasmin Vardimon Educational Company

A professional dance training centre dedicated to the company’s creative research and future productions, educational residencies and multi-disciplinary artistic study. Support for JV2: Professional Development Certificate and specifically for a Trainee Choreographer Fellowship to nurture the development of a young choreographer. Agreed £10,000.

Dulwich Picture Gallery

Public art gallery housing a world-class collection of Old Master paintings. Support for a new strand of the Youth Engagement Programme, ‘Off the Wall’, which aims to widen access to, and engage with, young people. Request for £3,554 pa for three years. Agreed one year support.

National Theatre

Staging an eclectic mix of new plays and classics from the world repertoire. Renewal of Wingate Fellowship to support a talented individual in financial need to train as a NT apprentice for either the new Lighting Apprentice or Sound trainee. Agreed £10,000.

Rambert Dance Company

Promoting new choreography and encouraging collaboration between dance, music and art. Renewal of Fellowship for Apprentice Dancers’ Scheme and specifically to continue to support the existing Wingate Fellow in her final year. Agreed £10,000.
