Support for ABCD’s Young Conductor’s Programme which provides the opportunity for young 18-25 year olds to work alongside peers and concentrate on the practical aspects of choir training, conducting and rehearsal techniques. Birmingham Contemporary Music Group
Promoting and developing the understanding and appreciation of contemporary music. Support for Apprentice Composer in Residence training programme for talented young composers for the 2015/16 Season. The scheme creates a supportive and structured environment in which, under expert guidance and example, early career composers can develop skills. Request for £10,000. Agreed £5,000
The National Orchestra for All
Aiming to widen participation by 11-18 year olds in ensemble music-making. Support to deliver annual intensive residential Summer Course to 90 young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Agreed £6,000.
Sistema England
Seeking to transform the lives of children, young people and their communities through the power of music making. Request for £11,500 in support of ‘The Nucleo Project’, a social action programme for children in London, based around orchestral participation, who need funds to engage more teachers to enable more children to join the programme. Agreed £5,000.
The Sixteen
Promoting, maintaining, improving and advancing the education of the public in orchestral and choral music. Agreed £6,660 pa for three years to run six Chorister Masterclasses each year to accompany a new UK tour with period orchestra.
National Youth Jazz Collective
Supporting the creative and educational needs of the nation’s young jazz musicians through a coherent and inspiration pathway of streamed study through to the highly competitive annual Summer School. Agreed £3,500 pa for three years to support 10 young jazz musicians from low-income households to access the Summer School.
Awards for Young Musicians
Aims to make a significant contribution to young people’s musical education by providing funding, mentoring and other music performance opportunities. Request for £10,000 to support costs of annual Awards programme. Agreed £3,000.
The Voices Foundation
Influencing thinking about the role of music education and the development of the child and ensuring that every child irrespective of ability, means or background has access to high quality music education through singing and the use of equipment. Support for 1-Year Foundation Programme in a cluster of five schools in Essex. Request for £6,500. Agreed £3,250.
IMS Prussia Cove
Providing seminars and master classes for young musicians emerging from colleges and academies. Support for Open Chamber music seminar by providing bursaries to enable younger musicians to attend. Renewed support for £5,000 to provide places for up to six young musicians.
London Master Classes
Providing talented young musicians with an opportunity to work intensively with leading performers and teachers in front of audiences in major London venues. Renewal of support for the Summer Master Course to provide Scholarships for highly gifted students who can’t afford to pay the fees. Agreed £2,000.
British Youth Opera
Providing instruction, coaching and advice to singers, instrumentalists, conductors, directors and production staff and offering opportunities and facilities to take part in opera production. Renewal of support agreed £4,000.
Youth Music Theatre UK
National music Theatre Company for young people aged 11-21. Support for Triptych Programme, a three-year project offering three commissions a year to women composers under the age of 30 and providing them with the opportunity to compose new work. Request for £6,000. Agreed £3,000.
